A visit to La Colombe D’Or restaurant in the fortified village of Saint Paul de Vence in the South of France feels more like visiting an art exhibition. Paul Roux and his family have been at the helm of this legendary restaurant and hotel for almost a century. They have been amassing an incredible collection of 20th century art when they started to accept works of art as payment for their meals from artists like Picasso, Matisse, Miro, Calder, Leger, Chagall and many more. The 36th International Balloon Festival took place from January 25 through February 2nd, 2014. It came to an end on an immaculate white day, due to snowfall. More than 18,000 delighted spectators attended the Festival this year in a friendly ambiance, with good weather during the week. The Festival’s organizers are satisfied, in spite of unreliable weather that thwarted the weekend programs.
