Montreux Jazz Festival 2011

July 5th

The stage of Music in the Park, a free concert venue is always a good spot for a surprise at the Montreux Jazz Festival.

The chances are especially high on the special evenings which give a platform to some of the other lesser, but still well-known artists from other parts of the world to perform their music at this internationally renowned music festival.

On the evening of the July 5th it was the Italian Night and the first group Nidi D’Arac made no exception to this rule for this 45th edition of the Montreux Jazz Festival. The group is composed by Alessandro Coppola, Elena Floris, Celine Ottria, Valerio Rodelli, Edoardo Targa and Filippo Schininà. They played a fantastic ethno rock attracting an especially large crowd into the park just outside the main festival hall with an outstanding presence on stage.

After the unexpected and generous performance of headliner Shemekia Copeland on July 3rd on the Music in the Park free stage and who normally plays only in the paying concerts, Nidi D’Arac demonstrated the high level of talent that is being presented for free to music lovers coming from all around the world.

See www.pbase.com/tcom/mjf2011 for more photos of the free concerts.
