Looking for a new car with EXTREME Power or maybe a new family car, or one that will save you some money at the pump, if you answered yest to any of these questions, than you have to visit the New York Auto Show. The show opened on April 18th and runs through the 27th, so there is still time to visit the show, but be warned this is the largest show of its kind and one day simply won’t do it.
The Jacob Javits Convention Center is the best venue for the auto show and unlike previous years, this years show is cleaner and easier to tour. Now with the North Hall open it seemed to give the show additional floor space so the attendees could enjoy the show and not have to fight the crowds. The North Hall was now designated for Chevrolet, Buick and GMC level 3 which is the main floor of the show was able to allow more space for the auto manufacturers there then in previous years.
The Show offers virtually every make and model vehicle sold in the U.S. under one roof giving consumers the unique opportunity to see everything the auto industry has to offer. From fuel-sipping economy cars to million dollar supercars, NYIAS has something for everyone…source NY Auto Show
As you will see in our video’s and photos this was a massive show and the exhibitors have pulled out all the stops. So how do you cover a show like this? Well, the press is fortunate to have two Press Days that enable us to get the photos a videos we need without the public getting in the way.
Manufacturers also had their presentations to the media and introduced their newest editions to the 2015 line-up. We were on the floor with Andy Peeke and a new addition to our team Josette D’Ambrosi, who you can see had a great time, playing a bit with Andy in one of the most luxurious cars at the show the Rolls Royce Phantom Drop Head Coupe that sells for a cool half million dollars.
To see all the manufacturers at the show and their cars, go to the auto show gallery.

Now Rolls Royce wasn’t the only luxury vehicle at the show and when one thinks about buying a Rolls, they also have to consider the Bentley. We loved the new Bentley Continental Speed GT Convertible which is currently the fastest 4 seater convertible on the road. This beautifully styled car has been clocked at a mind-blowing 204 MPH and it is only $250,000, half the cost of the Rolls.
It would take too much time to list all the Luxury cars at this show, so we decided to include some of them in our video and others in our photos. We would suggest you visit the Auto Show website for more information on the many luxury cars being shown as well as the concept, performance and the new breed of energy-efficient vehicles.
[box_light]Concept Cars – The Future Starts Here[/box_light]
Everyone loves to take a look at the future and this show didn’t disappoint. You can see some of the photos we shot of the Kia GT-4 Stinger, a 2+2 sports car powered by a 315 turbocharged horsepower engine and a six-speed manual transmission. It’s 315 horsepower engine is a turbocharged direct injected four-cylinder engine…no need for the 8 cylinder engines of the past. Beautiful to look at and engineering we will be seeing in future Kia’s to be sure.
The Cadillac Elmiraj is a thing to behold…It is a modern 2 door grand coupe, streamlined that boasts rear wheel performance. It is an impressive 205 inches long, four seat coupe and powered by a 4.5 liter twin turbocharged V8, delivering an estimated 500 hp. The baseline technology has been taken from the Cadillac twin turbo V6 featured in the upcoming 420 hp 2014 CTS V sport and expands that to the V8 engine. Don’t expect to get great mileage from this baby, it was meant for style and high performance and for those that don’t have to watch the gas prices at the pump.
Toyota also have their concept cars at the show and you will see two of them in our video. The Toyota FT-1, which first debuted in the Sony PlayStation game Gran Turismo has a perfectly balanced front-engine, rear wheel drive and has some innovative design elements to give it the look of a classic sports car with cockpits, wraparound windshield and side glass openings that gives it a look of the legendary Toyota 2000GT.
Toyota’s second concept car on display was the their Toyota FCV their energy-efficient Fuel Cell car that operates on Hydrogen converting it to water as a by-product. You can read more about this car at Car & Driver.
Nissan and Ford also had their concept vehicles on display and you can see photos of the concept cars on the NY Auto website.

[box_light]Special Exhibits and Activities[/box_light]
There is so much to do and see at this show that one day is really not enough time. If you are shopping for a new car, this show is a must. Not only will you see the cars in the showrooms now, but you will have a glimpse into the future and see a preview of some of the 2015 cars that usually start to get into the showrooms in the late summer and early fall.
Now if you aren’t looking to buy a new car anytime soon, but just love going to this show every year as we do, then there are a number of very cool exhibits and activities. Here are some of the images we shot of these exhibits.

[box_light]Jeep Camp Ride Along[/box_light]
We loved the Jeep Camp Ride Along and you can see from this video, Andy and I took a spin through the Jeep’s obstacle course. They set this up to show you just how a Jeep can perform under the worst set of driving conditions and as you will see, these are truly the worst most of us would ever endure driving our Jeeps.
[box_light]ASIMO By Honda[/box_light]
On the first Press Day at the show Honda demonstrated their latest upgrade to ASIMO their exciting robot that has been under development for 30 years. Watch our video and you will see that Robots replacing humans is not that far off.
