Avenches, Switzerland
July 31st – August 6th: 20th edition
The Rock Oz’Arènes festival is a pretty unique rock festival. It takes place in the marvelous town of Avenches in the French-speaking part of Switzerland close to Fribourg.
In the beginning of August, the old town around the Roman amphitheater of the 2nd century offers this unique scenery for a rock festival, the amphitheater being the main stage of the festival.
The 20th edition of the festival closed on August 6th with 37’000 visitors.
With 3 evenings out of the 5 completely sold out, international musicians such as the Scorpions, Motörhead, Ben Harper, Olivia Ruiz or Ben L’Oncle Soul and entertained so many visitors who were enjoying the festival. The weather was perfect and, the organizers qualified this 20th edition as magic.
Rodrigo y Gabriela
Among the best moments of the festival was the concert of the Mexican duo Rodrigo y Gabriela on Friday 5th. Ben Harper also performed on the same evening.
The Mexican duo, who also worked on the soundtrack of Pirates Of The Caribbean 4, combined flamenco and rock on their guitars for a truly amazing performance.
Smaller Stages
The smaller stages of the festival featured artists such as Arno, Solange La Frange, Sideburn, The Lords Of Altamont or Heidi Happy They attracted large crowds of fans which contributed to the success of this 20th edition.
