NEW YORK, NY – September 24, 2014 – A new generation of emerging photographers is expected to fill the halls and classrooms of this year’s PhotoPlus Expo, thanks to a number of special events, education tracks, and Photo Walks designed specifically for the needs and interests of amateur photographers and creative pros.  On Wednesday, October 29th, PhotoPlus Expo will host an entire day of seminars and Photo Walks that provide various levels of education and tutelage ideal for emerging photographers looking to learn skills to advance their careers.  Following the Photo Walks, Portfolio Reviews, and the University, PhotoPlus will host its annual Test Drive event on Wednesday evening, showcasing new and innovative technologies to give attendees – including pros, amateurs, and students – a sneak peek of what can be seen and experimented with during the conference.

“We want to make sure that PhotoPlus caters to emerging photographers – we want to help them gather the tools and develop the skills they need to advance their careers,” explains Lauren Wendle, vice president/publisher of PDN and the Photo Group.  “Many of our seminar tracks, our new series of Photo Walks, and Portfolio Review Program will give them the guidance they need to further develop their vision and build a body of work to get noticed.  PhotoPlus Expo is all about education and networking with the industry.”

Wednesday, October 29

Photo Walks – 8:30 a.m. – 11:30 a.m.
For the first time, PhotoPlus Expo has created a series of intimate Photo Walks led by several world-class photographers that will provide one-on-one learning opportunities, allowing participants to create images under the close coaching of qualified instructors.  All Photo Walks will be conducted on Wednesday afternoon.  This is a great opportunity to use the New York City streets as a backdrop to learn lighting, portraiture, composition, and design that gives new meaning to the phrase, “street photography.” You can view the Photo Walk options here, within the Conference menu.

The University – 12:30 p.m. – 5:45 p.m.
Following a morning of Photo Walks and portfolio reviews, The University – a comprehensive, hands-on, and interactive series of classes ideal for emerging photographers – will take place.  Attendees will spend the day with some of the most respected photographers and educators in the industry including Jennifer Rozenbaum, Lindsay Adler, Peter Hurley, Tony Gale, and Lou Freeman.  Photographers will learn new and creative shooting, the logic behind posing techniques and how to manage and master control of speedlights, studio strobes and continuous lighting.  Techniques for effectively using mixed/natural light will also be taught during the course.  This event is crucial for many emerging photographers, as mastering lighting and subject posing are key elements to gaining the confidence needed to take on assignments and expanding the range of business services they can offer.

Participants will learn from industry professionals how to apply new techniques, what aspects to strengthen, and how to get noticed.

Panel Discussion and Test Drive – 5:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m.
After participating in The University, attendees are invited to a special panel presentation which examines How Technology is Leading the Storytelling Revolution will take place from 5-6 PM. It will take an in-depth look at how technological advancements are  changing the way professionals create greater awareness about projects and how they can effectively use social media tools to build personal brand awareness.

Once inspired by the panel, attendees will be able to get a sneak peek at the newest products at PPE at Wednesday evening’s Test Drive event.
